"A knight's job is to kill somebody. To batter, slash, stab, crush, slice or mangle them to a mush. So there are not a lot of nice knights around in history. Many were bullies and cold-blooded killers - and that was just the pleasant ones. The really rotten ones were murder machines. Of course there are some lovely fairy tales about knights in shining armour. You know the sort of thing...
- In days of old when knights were bold, the handsome knight rescued the beautiful princess and they lived happily ever after.
If you want stories like that then go to the library. If you want stories like that do NOT read this book! This is a horrible history of days of old when knights were cold (hearted). The only princesses you'll meet are probably more dead than pretty. This book will tell you the terrible truths. Like:
- Richard the Lionheart went on crusade to Jerusalem and he had the head of a Saracen enemy cut off and curried. He ate it!
You have been warned! There are some seriously scary bits so do NOT attempt to read it with the lights out. In other words... HORRIBLE HISTORIES WARNING: This book is not for reading by knight! (Oh yes, and apart from foul facts about very bad men there may be one or two very bad jokes.)"
Boken heter "Horrible Histories Handbook: Knights" for de som måtte være interessert. Utrolig hva man kan finne på å plukke med seg fra gavebutikker i utlandet...
